Taking the time to get your life to a point in which you truly feel ready to get in shape is always exciting, and the first few days are often quite easy. However, there are things that you should do to make sure that your start is not a false start. If you take the time to set small goals that you can easily hit near the beginning of your program, you stand a better chance of continuing on when things get a bit tougher. </p>
<p>The most important part of beginning a fitness program is taking time to set realistic goals. It is wonderful to have the initial energy to get to the gym, but it is always important to keep the &#8220;why&#8221; of the matter in focus. If you can do this, you will have a much easier time when you start to lose your motivation. While the first few days at the gym might seem easy, the loss of momentum will eventually occur. Having solid goals, though, can help to give you the necessary motivation to get back into the swing of things and to really work on your program.</p>
<p>Always try to set goals that are obtainable, at least at first. You can, of course, also set major goals, but you should always try to make sure that there are milestones that you are able to hit as the weeks go by. Nothing is more frustrating than working out or dieting only to find that you have made little progress, so even small goals can provide you with small victories along the way. Something as small as losing five pounds or shaving thirty seconds off of a mile can help you to keep coming back for more.</p>

Starting a routine can be difficult, though, as going for a walk is often time consuming and can be more intensive than many might suppose. Doing a bit of early planning can help make the process quite a bit easier, though, and planning out your walks and finding ways to keep yourself distracted can make for the beginnings of a great routine. </p>
<p>One of the best things to do when you are starting a walking routine is to plan out a route. Try to find an area that is relatively scenic and that will keep your interest, and you might stand a better chance of actually making it out for the walk. Many individuals give up on walking because the process can be a bit time consuming or less exciting than going for a run, but finding an entertaining area in which to walk can actually make quite a difference. It is also wise to plan ahead to find ways to keep your mind occupied on something other than becoming tired &#8211; walking with a friend can work, and so can listening to music. Whatever you need to stay on task can be helpful.</p>
<p>If you want to start walking, the best way to do so is to simply walk. Find a place that looks entertaining, and begin with a short path. Together, these things will boost the metabolism, improve muscle structure and prevent injury.  Getting in shape does not need to be difficult or complicated.  Learning how to properly structure your exercise routine ensures that you get a great workout while adequately protecting your body.</p>
<p>Stretching</p>
<p>Stretching is essential for avoiding injury.  Simply dropping into a stretching position will not provide the best benefits for the muscles and joints. The body should be first warmed up through the performance of five to ten minutes of moderate physical activity.  This can be walking, jogging or even dancing in place.  Once the heart rate begins to climb and the face begins to feel warm, the body is ready to be lengthened and elongated.</p>
<p>All of the muscle groups that will be engaged in the forthcoming activities should be addressed. The leg, arm and abdominal muscles should be carefully stretched as should the neck, shoulders and back muscles.  Following a good workout a brief cool down should be performed by walking slowly in place until the heart rate returns to normal and then slowly re-stretching the muscle groups that have been worked.</p>
<p>Cardio Exercise</p>
<p>Cardio exercises are essentially all of the physical activities that help to get the heart rate up and keep it there.  These include running, jogging, fast walking, bike riding and the use of continual motion machines such as treadmills, stair climbers or cross trainers.  Your beginning fitness program should contain at least fifteen minutes of one or more cardio activities, performed in addition to the warm-up and cool-down routines that are part of your pre-workout stretches.</p>
<p>Personal Strength Exercises</p>
<p>Personal strength exercises are activities or body poses that require the individual to support or bear his or her own body weight such as push-ups, pull-ups, bench presses, dips and many others.  These challenging exercises help to promote muscle development which will in turn stimulate more robust metabolic performance.  Combining personal strength exercises with the other elements of your normal fitness routine will help you to become leaner and more toned in next to no time at all.</p>

It is a very important that we replace any bad habits with good habits, otherwise they just end up being repeated.</p>
<p>Walking does not require any expensive equipment unless of course, someone would prefer to own a treadmill to exercise at home.  Although it is not a requirement, it can be a good investment to enable people to exercise even when the weather is not cooperating.  It also gives people the opportunity to exercise at any time of the day or night in a safe environment.  It also lets people enjoy a television show without being a couch potato, which is yet another added bonus to owning a treadmill.</p>
<p>On the other hand, anyone can just go walking every day at a specific time.
